作者简介：Sergey Aleksandrovich, 毕业于Kalinnin Suvorov军事学院， 高级军事学院（the Higher Military Academy），莫斯科国立历史档案研究院。现任俄罗斯联邦国防部档案中心的副主任（Assistant chief），是许多关于卫国战争的历史科学著作的作者。

    Aleksandrovich主要依据卫国战争期间和战后，各个军事单位和军事人民委员会的正式伤亡报告统计的永久损失，永久损失包括以下几类：

    1. 军事单位报告的阵亡（killed from reports of military units）

    2. 军事人民委员会报告的阵亡（killed from reports of military commissariats）

    3. 军事单位报告的失踪（missing from reports of military units）  

    4. 军事人民委员会报告的失踪（missing from reports of military commissariats） 

    5. 德国战俘营中的死亡（died in German captivity）  

    6. 病死（died of illness）  

    7. 军事单位报告的伤死（died of wounds from reports of military units）

    8. 军事单位人民委员会的伤死（died of wounds from reports of military commissariats） 
 
    Aleksandrovich综合以上各类统计，排除了重复之后，得到卫国战争期间苏联正规军事力量的死亡人数：
    红军士兵和士官死亡人数12,434,398  

    红军军官死亡人数1,100,000 

    海军死亡人数（包括军官和士兵）154,771 
 
    内卫部队（NKVD）死亡人数97,700  

    边境部队死亡人数61,400 

    苏联正规军事力量总死亡人数：13,850,000，即1385万。
